Epistle to the Galatians

“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel” (Galatians 1: 6). These are the words of Paul the Apostle, which can be found at the beginning of his letter to the Galatians. This Book of the New Testament was addressed to the Christians of the Church of Galatia, whose faith wavered under the influence of other doctrines. The Epistle of Paul to the Galatians is part of the Biblical canon: it appears between the second Epistle to the Corinthians, and the Epistle to the Ephesians. Let’s discover the main theme of this letter, as well as 7 of its beautiful verses.

Paul’s Message to the Galatians

“You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.” (Galatians 3:1). This verse pretty much summarizes the purpose of Paul’s letter to the Galatians, as they were becoming more and more confused by the right rites and doctrines to adopt to be righteous before God (such as the practice of circumcision, which food to consume, etc.). Paul wrote to them to bring them back to the Gospel: “You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope.”

7 Beautiful Verses from the Book of Galatians

Galatians 1

“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

(Galatians 1:10)

Galatians 2

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

(Galatians 2:20)

Galatians 3

“For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

(Galatians 3:27-28)

Galatians 4

“Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.”

(Galatians 4:6-7)

Galatians 5

“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

(Galatians 5:16)

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

(Galatians 5:22-23)

Galatians 6

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

(Galatians 6:2)
