"Son amour pour le prochain n’avait aucun attrait humain; quand il voyait un domestique ou un confrère effectuer un travail épuisant, il accourait et lui disait: "laisse-moi faire à ta place".  Puis il se penchait sur le travail pénible pour l’accomplir, bien qu’il ne fût pas obligé de faire un certain nombre de travaux, comme la panification et autres, pourtant il demandait l’autorisation du supérieur et venait nous aider, sans avoir de préférence, l’un à l’autre. Il manifestait de l’estime à tous, comme si chacun était son supérieur; quant aux visiteurs, il ne se mêlait pas avec eux, se satisfaisant de prier à leur intention. Aux ordres du supérieur, il allait visiter les malades et priait pour eux». 

L’une de ses plus singulières vertus fut sa charité pour ses confrères; il ne dénigrait personne, accomplissant ses obligations avec dévouement; il s’imposait la sévérité alors qu’il était clément avec les autres. Il a passé une longue période de sa vie monastique au couvent Saint Maron, à Annaya, aimé de toutes les personnes, si différentes qu’elles fussent, remarquable par son impartialité et sa discrétion avec les uns et les autres; il s’adonnait à tout travail inaccompli au couvent.

Seigneur, qu'à l’exemple de Saint Charbel, nous développions la charité les uns envers les autres.

" His love for his fellow man had no human attraction. When he saw a servant or a colleague perform an exhausting job, he ran up and said, "let me do it for you". Then he would lean on hard work in order to do so, although he did not have to do a number of works, such as planning and others. Yet he asked for permission from the Father Superior and came to help us, without any preference. He expressed esteem for all, as if everyone was his superior. As for the visitors, he did not mingle with them, satisfying themselves by praying for them. At the orders of the Father Superior, he was going to visit the sick and pray for them ".
One of his most singular virtues was his charity for his fellow members; he did not denigrating anyone, fulfilling his obligations with devotion. He was imposing himself severity while he was merciful to others. He spent a long period of his monastic life in the convent of Saint Maron, in Annaya, loved by all people, so different that they were, remarkable by his impartiality and discretion with each other; he exercised various types of unfulfilled activities in the convent.

Lord, let us, in the example of Saint Charbel, develop their charity for one another.
