You probably heard and read about James Foley being murdered. He is described as a brother, a son, a friend of great value, a loved and admired person. James studied at the Jesuit's college. While captive, he truly felt that people were praying for him. He had an active prayer life himself since his childhood.

As James's brothers and sisters in Christ, I ask you to join the prayer on the Internet via Hozana.org. It would be a concrete way to show our support to his family.

Lord, may  Steven Sotloff and all the hostages be set free. Please protect them and give them your peace and love.

Below is James's last letter to his parents. Since all of his previous letters had been destroyed, he asked a hostage about to be released to memorize and repeat it to his family which he was able to do.

Message de la maman de James.

A message from Jim's mom, Diane Foley: We have never been prouder of our son Jim. He gave his life trying to expose the world to the suffering of the Syrian people. We implore the kidnappers to spare the lives of the remaining hostages. Like Jim, they are innocents. They have no control over American government policy in Iraq, Syria or anywhere in the world. We thank Jim for all the joy he gave us. He was an extraordinary son, brother, journalist and person. Please respect our privacy in the days ahead as we mourn and cherish Jim.

AUGUST 26th, 6 pm, PRAYER VIGIL for Jim in the Wisconsin

A Prayer for Journalists St. Francis de Sales, patron saint of writers and journalists

Almighty God,

Strengthen and direct, we pray,

the will of all whose work it isto write what many read,

and to speak where many listen.

May we be bold to confront evil and injustice:

understanding and compassionate of human weakness;

rejecting alike the half-truth which deceives,

and the slanted word which corrupts.

May the power which is ours, for good or ill,

always be used with honesty and courage,

with respect and integrity,

so that when all here has been written, said and done,

we may, unashamed, meet Thee face to face.

Amen

Prayer for Jim

Saints of God, come to his aid!

Hasten to meet him angels of the Lord!

Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,

And let perpetual light shine upon him.

May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed

through the mercy of God rest in peace.

Amen.

Amen
