Novena Day 9

Scripture Passage:

Now when he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons. She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept. But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they would not believe it. (Mark 16:9-11)

Oh Saint Mary Magdalene, you were chosen to be the first person in history to proclaim the joyful news of the Resurrection. Thanks to that message we will never lose hope. You truly saw the Lord risen from the dead and yet many doubted your testimony. Pray for us in our mission to proclaim the Risen Christ to the unbelieving world of today. May our witness have the power to bring back hope to many hearts, but even when our message is resisted, help us to understand that the Lord demands our fidelity to the mission and not what we might think is its success.

To you now I entrust this intention which is so dear to my heart. (Mention the intention...) Grant me the favour of seeing that this request that I make of the Most High through you has been answered, so that I too, like you, may sing of His merciful love forever. Amen

In communion with you, the Apostle to the Apostles, I now pray:

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father.

The Novena concludes with the Litany of Saint Mary Magdalene:

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy,

Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy,

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy,

Christ hear us, Christ graciously hear us,

God the Father of Heaven, have mercy on us,

God the Son, Redeemer of the world, have mercy on us,

God the Holy Spirit, have mercy on us,

Holy Trinity, one God, have mercy on us,

Holy Mary, pray for us,

Saint Mary Magdalene, pray for us

Bearing the alabaster jar of perfume, pray for us,

Bathing the feet of Jesus with your tears, pray for us,

Drying them with your hair, pray for us,

Of whom many sins were forgiven, pray for us,

Burning with ardent love, pray for us,

Following the footsteps of Christ, pray for us,

Diamond passing from the dust into the light, pray for us,

From a vessel of clay to purest crystal, pray for us,

Sparkling pearl, pray for us,

Blazing torch, pray for us,

Pleasing to the Lord, pray for us,

Precious to the Heart of Jesus, pray for us,

Always choosing the better part, pray for us,

Whose tears obtained life for Lazarus, pray for us,

Standing firm with Christ Crucified, pray for us,

Staying with Him when the disciples had fled, pray for us,

Sharing in the sorrows of His Mother, pray for us,

Woman of strength, pray for us,

Remaining at the empty tomb, pray for us,

Witness of the Risen Christ, pray for us,

Marked by the touch of His glorious hand, pray for us,

First herald of the Resurrection, pray for us,

Apostle to the apostles, pray for us,

Apostle of Provence, pray for us,

Protector of the Order of the Preachers, pray for us,

Sweet advocate of penitents, pray for us,

So that with you we may merit the happiness of Heaven, pray for us

Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, spare us, Lord,

Lamb of God who take away the sin of the world, graciously hear us, Lord

Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, have mercy on us.

V. Pray for us, O Blessed Mary Magdalene,

A. That we may become worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray : Father Most Merciful, pour out your Spirit upon us, so that with the Blessed Mary Magdalene, we may love our Lord Jesus Christ above all else in this world and so be found worthy of eternal beatitude,

Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Take a moment to treasure up all these things and ponder them in your heart (cf Luke 2,19)

Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone. Col 4:6
