DAY NINE :

Let us pray to the Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ, who consecrated the world by his love:

Father of mercies, You sent your Son into the world to save us and established him as Ruler over all of creation. May the flame of love that burns in his Heart spread out to the whole world and consume it in the praise of your glory. We ask this through Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

READING :

“Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God. Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love. In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him. In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as expiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another. No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us.

This is how we know that we remain in him and he in us, that he has given us of his Spirit. Moreover, we have seen and testify that the Father sent his Son as saviour of the world. Whoever acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him and he in God. We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us. God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him.” - 1 Letter of St John: 7-16

MEDITATION :

The Catholic religion enlightens us, making our eyes shine brightly with the sweetest, the brightest, the warmest and the most pleasant of truths: THE truth of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The revelation of this truth, is the revelation of the love of God for us. We are not abandoned, not forgotten, and not alone on the way of the Cross, on the way that Jesus follows. We have therein a Heart that loves us, a place where we are loved, and where we receive love at every instant of the way. Even before we came into existence, there was a Heart that loved us with an eternal love, at every turn in our lives, the Heart that lights us on fire with the warmest of loves.

This Heart is perfect, pure as light, more innocent than the angels, and nothing sullied has ever come near it. Divine intelligence shines in Him, all the beauties and uncreated perfections are resplendent in Him:  this is the Heart of Jesus, the Heart of God made man.

Lord Jesus, you love sinners and in your mercy, you forgive them. We pray in the name of your love, help them to approach ever more closely to your Heart , and to find therein a source of mercy and forgiveness for their sins, you who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
