Sacred Heart Novena - Day 6

DAY SIX :

Let us pray to the Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd , who is full of love and merciful kindness:

O Lord, our Shepherd, in your goodness and wisdom, watch over us with tender care, and direct our lives. Your Heart desires only one thing: to lead us to the Father.

May we always be able to hear your voice and follow you more closely each and every day of our lives. We ask this of you, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

READING :

“I myself will pasture my sheep; I myself will give them rest—oracle of the Lord GOD. The lost I will search out, the strays I will bring back, the injured I will bind up, and the sick I will heal; but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd them in judgment”. - Ezekiel 34:15-16

MEDITATION :

“My Heart is open to your prayers and I receive them with favour because it is I who inspire you to speak to Me in this way. This is the secret of prayer pleasing to My Heart: it rises out of a grace that I have already planted in the soul, even before you come into My presence, even before you open your mouth, or take up your pen, or begin to formulate words. These are the prayers that I answer most readily; these are the prayers that I answer unfailingly, because they are the fruit of the work of the Holy Spirit in the soul, teaching the soul to pray in perfect harmony with the desires and designs of My own Sacred Heart.” P 120.

“Pray in this way. Surrender to the Holy Spirit, and allow the Holy Spirit to cause prayer to well up within you like a fountain of living water. This is the prayer that flowers into adoration in spirit and in truth”.

O Good and merciful Shepherd, the sound of your voice puts my soul at rest in the silence of green pastures. Speak to me, Lord. Your servant listens….

Almighty and eternal God, look upon the Heart of Thy most beloved Son and upon the praises and satisfaction which He offers Thee in the name of sinners; and to those who implore Thy mercy, in Thy great goodness, grant forgiveness in the name of the same Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who livest and reignest with Thee forever and ever. Amen

PRAYER OF CONSECRATION TO THE SACRED HEART

I (N.), give and consecrate to the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ, my person, my life, my actions, my pains and sufferings, so that I may be unwilling to make use of any part of my being save to honor, love, and glorify the Sacred Heart. It is my unchanging intention to be all His and to do all for love of Him. I renounce at the same time with all my heart whatever can displease Him. I, therefore, take You, O Sacred Heart, for the only object of my love, the protector of my life, the pledge of my salvation, the remedy of my weakness and inconstancy, the atonement for the faults of my life, and the secure refuge at the hour of my death. Be then, O Heart of goodness, my justification before God the Father, and turn away from me the punishment of His just anger. O Heart of love, I put my confidence in You, because I fear everything from my own sinfulness and weakness. I hope for all things from Your mercy and generosity. Destroy in me all that can displease or resist Your holy Will. Let Your pure love impress You so deeply upon my heart that I may never forget You or be separated from You.
