Hidden Talent
Exodus 35: 30 – 31
Moses said to the Israelites: “See the Lord has chosen Bezalel, son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge, and all kinds of skills.”
Meditation
Moses has just come down from Mount Sanai with the Ten Commandments on 2 tablets of stone with instructions from God to build a Tabernacle (a holy place) to keep them. Moses then explains that God has chosen the people of Israel to build the Tabernacle. God then choses someone specific and calls him by his name, fills him with the Holy Spirit, and gives him the gifts necessary to accomplish his task. God calls each of us by our name and gives each of us the spiritual gifts and skills necessary to become who we are created to be.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)
God desires that we all take part in His plan for creation. Our gifts and skills are to be shared and used for the greater glory of the kingdom of God today, NOW.
Meet the Challenge
Do you feel that God has called you by your name and knows what is best for you? Are you capable of naming your spiritual gifts and skills (talents)? If yes, how do you use them - for yourself, family, others, the church? This coming week, ask yourself these questions in prayer. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you discover what your “hidden gifts and talents” are! Are there gifts and talents that you would like to use differently?
Let's Pray
God I believe You are my father and You have called me by my name. Help me to hear You when You call and that "Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven"! I thank You for all the spiritual gifts and talents You have given me (name them). Help me to use each of them for Your greater glory. Show me any hidden talents that I may have and how You would want me to use them. I thank You for who I am. Amen.
