Generosity
There is no greater love than to give one's life for one's own brothers, because this is how Jesus did it. He loved us to the point of giving his life for us, "when we were still sinners". This is what Paul understood, thanks to the dazzling light that enveloped him on the road to Damascus: "Christ loved me and gave his life for me". This is the source of Christian love. As we have received freely, we can give freely. Even to the gift of our lives.
Many Christians have experienced this from the beginning until today, like the young Maddalena Volpato (Daughter of the Church, Servant of God). Accustomed since childhood to live always in generous self-dedication, hardly had she felt how urgent and serious the situation of division in the Churches was, when she offered her life to the Lord, placing it in His hands as a holocaust which He would love.
May the Lord find in each one of us an ally in his loving compassion for the world, like Maddalena, who through unimaginable sufferings caused by sickness and war, which made it difficult for her to get care, remained happy and even facetious when she said: suffering welcomed with love has great value for the holy Church.
Let us pray that the Lord will make us fully available to His plan of salvation for all.
We can also ask for this grace through the intercession of Maddalena Volpato: "O Most Holy Trinity, you have granted to your servant Maddalena the special gift of offering her young life for the unity of all Christians. Grant that we may grow in love for you and for our brothers and sisters, and through her intercession give us the graces we ask for with confidence".
