Light
Lamps are made to give light: that is the whole meaning of their existence. Our faith, lit at baptism, is a light for the world. The wind can extinguish it: the storm that led to the shipwreck of the ship St. Paul was traveling in caused desolation in the hearts of his companions; the small and large storms that we encounter in our lives can weaken our trust.
Let us ask the Holy Spirit to keep the flame of faith alive in the heart of every Christian, to rekindle it where it is being extinguished, to rekindle it where it is already extinguished: the world needs this light.
Let us pray for all the baptized, that the light of faith may not be extinguished in us, but may be rekindled and spread.
