St. Genevieve (+512)
Saint Genevieve: The strong and prudent
Genevieve grew up in Nanterre, France, but became the patron saint of Paris. Today, her strong and loving statue can be seen overlooking the Ile de la Cité in the heart of the city. When the rumor brought the news that Attila was approaching, her firm hope and daring persuaded the panic-stricken population to stay and pray.
Later, when the Roman Empire was dissolving, she saw in Clovis a pagan able to unify Gaul. But she opened the doors of the capital to him only after the Frankish leader had married the Christian Clotilde.
As a result, the Franks were baptized in Reims!
