Day 2 - Giving your life for your mission

Main post image

Once upon a time…

Just after eleven years of Jesuit training and education, Jorge Mario was ordained a priest on the 13th of December 1969, Unfortunately at this time period, the Jesuits were undergoing turmoil resulting in an entire generation vanishing from the Jesuit order! Barley 3 years after his final vows, Jorge Mario found himself thrown into the position of Jesuit Provincial for Argentina with enormous responsibility.

Mission, community and discipline are the three aspects of Jesuit life marked Jorge Mario and made him decide to become a Jesuit himself and to give without counting.

A Saying…

He wants your hands to help continue building the world of today. He wants to build it with you.

“The times that we are living in today do not need youth who are couch potatoes but youth with shoes, better yet, youth wearing shoes with cleats! The world today accepts only players that are qualified on the playground; there isn't any room for reservists. The world today is asking you to be protagonists of history because life is beautiful only if you want to live it to the fullest and leave your footprints. History today is asking you to defend your dignity and to not allow others to decide your future. Jesus Christ wants you to experience another Pentecost; He wants to perform one of the biggest miracles that you could ever experience. He wants your hands, my hands, our hands to be transformed into signs of reconciliation and in communion with creation. He wants your hands to continue building the world of today. He wants to build a better world WITH you.”  Pope Francis' talk at WYD (World Youth Day) in Cracow, Poland.

A Prayer…

Today let us ask the Holy Spirit in prayer that our Holy Father continues to find the strength and the courage to continue his mission each day. We pray that he continues to be able to face adversity and hardships. May he always have HOPE.

Three ways to pray for this intention:
1. I click immediately on the tab “I pray” just below, and I carefully read the “prayer to the Holy Spirit for Pope Francis”
2. I say 10 Hail Marys and I click on the tab “I pray”
3. I offer 3 minutes of silence, heart to heart, with God, then I click on the tab “I pray”

Community prayer

Prayer to the Holy Spirit for our Holy Father, Pope Francis!

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen.
