Feast of Saint John-Paul II

Hello everyone, happy feast of St John-Paul II!

Firstly, we want to say THANK YOU for joining us on this journey. We can't wait to share and discuss with you, the teachings and reflections from the genius who was St John-Paul and his legacy - Theology of the Body (TOB).

St John-Paul was elected Pope on 16th October 1978 at the age of 58. He was the first non-Italian to be elected in over four hundred years. He is the patron Saint of many groups including; World Youth Day, Young Catholics, Families and the Arch Diocese of Krakow.   During his papacy, he also appointed Saint Isidore as patron Saint of the internet.

Theology of the Body is a collection of 129 lectures given by Pope John Paul (JPII) during his Wednesday Audiences between September 1979 and November 1984. Through TOB, JPII sought to impart to us, the ground-breaking revelation of God's plan and purpose for our lives. He wanted to impress upon our hearts the joy, beauty and sanctity of what it means to be truly human in every sense of the word, so that embracing this treasure from God, we would desire to live with purpose, joy, resilience, passion, peace and above all, with love - regardless of our circumstances.

“…No amount of scientific exploration can replace the truth that our bodies reveal us, giving form to our innermost being and unique personality. Our bodies are sacramental – they make the invisible, visible” JPII

At the end of each post, we will share a relevant song that speaks to us and you may choose to listen to this during the time of reflection.  We will attach a link to the song below. Today's song is “You're beautiful” by Phil Wickham.

How do we define ourselves? by our marital status? our body shape? our grades? our friends? our qualifications? our achievements? our struggles? These things may shape us but they are not the final word on our identity. As we listen to the song, let us reflect on the fact that we are created in God's image, purely out of His infinite, unconditional love for us and let us walk today in that identity.

Prayer; Father, I thank you so much that I am created in your beautiful and holy image and that regardless of how I feel, I am beautiful, unique and precious in your sight and I am absolutely loved unconditionally. Help me to embrace the beauty of my creation and give me the grace to walk faithfully and boldly in my identity,  Amen.

Have a joyful week,

God bless you,

Maisy and Olivia

(After today, we will post every Saturday as from 2nd November).
