Day 14 : A Program for Holiness (part 1)
According to John-Paul II, Pier Giorgio Frassati shows us that the way to holiness is about becoming “a man or woman of the Beatitudes”.
Through his example, he declares proudly and loudly that a life lived in the Spirit of Christ, the spirit of the Beatitudes, is “blessed”, and that only one who becomes “a man or a woman of the Beatitudes” succeeds in communicating love and peace to the others. He testifies that giving up on everything for the Lord is truly worth it. He testifies that sainthood is possible for all. […] He left this world at a quite young age, yet he left his footprint on the whole century. […] - John-Paul II, Speech for the Beatification of Pier Giorgio, May 1990.
The program for holiness is “so simple, yet so difficult.”
In one of his homilies, on June 2015, Pope Francis told us that if someone asks “How to become a good Christian?”, Christ answers “through the Beatitudes”, which go against the tide of what happens in this world.
(…To be followed tomorrow.)
A question to ask yourself:
Today, we suggest that you meditate on the Beatitudes (Gospel of Matthew, ch. 5) and that you maybe follow it up with a reading of the Sermon on the Mount (ch. 5, 6, and 7). If Pier Giorgio lived the eight Beatitudes, why not you?
