1 Peter 5:10 

After you have suffered a little while, our God, who is full of kindness through Christ, will give you his eternal glory. He personally will come and pick you up, and set you firmly in place, and make you stronger than ever.

Prayer of this day

Saint Rita, you whom the Lord has chosen to incarnate, in the eyes of all, perseverance in all circumstances, allow me not to give in to discouragement and sadness. Deign to raise your prayer to our Savior that he may hear my request.

Your life was a breeding ground for pitfalls and you knew how to draw from the grace of perseverance a true strength, a strength that took its source in the confident abandonment in Jesus Christ.

I come to You, Lord, to implore Your help in these moments of distress, may my prayer rise to You. Help me not to despair and believe that everything is still possible.

Do not allow me to fall into the abyss of discouragement, make possible what is not possible in my eyes as a poor sinner, remove from me the tempting doubt in which I am plunged because of my many sins. 

Forgive the sins of which I am guilty and of which I repent and remove from me the opportunities to commit them again. Burn, tear off all that is impure and black in my soul, do not spare me here on earth as long as you wrap me in Your infinite Grace.

 I ask you for the grace of perseverance in the trials that mark out my earthly life. Amen.
