Maximize Your Lent

Main post image

Brothers and Sisters,

Grace and peace to you this Lent! I wanted to share with you what I plan on doing personally; hopefully it'll inspire you.

  1. Books: The Imitation of Christ by Thomas á Kempis and Divine Intimacy by Fr. Gabriel of St Mary Magdalen, O.C.D
  2. Daily Scripture (I confess that I'm really bad about this, so I plan on going with Magnificat's listing of the Daily Mass Readings)
  3. Silence; I wear headphones all the time, so my goal is to be able to sit with Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament for a full hour with no music
  4. Mary: I hope to do at least two rosaries a day.

Since the conference in Rome, I have realized that I have A LONG way to go in my relationship with Christ and His Mother, and that I need to seriously ramp up my love for them both. I pray that some of these goals will be some that will help you if you're trying to think of what to give up/take on for Lent. Let us prayerfully prepare for this season as best we can, and hopefully grow closer to Christ as a result.

Please know of my prayers for everone on here; please, continue to pray for me in my formation as a Lay Dominican.

By the way, the photo is of the Pensive Christ; it's a Polish Devotion to reflect on Christ in this state.

Verso l'alto,

Michał

P.S.: Is anyone interested in a pen pal? I'm open to anywhere really, but I've been wanted to connect with people from the UK over the past several years (especially from the Conference).

Community prayer

A Prayer for Young Adults

O God, in a culture and time that tells us lies about sexuality, logic and church teachings, we pray for all young people, our brothers and sisters, wherever they may be. May we follow the example of saints such as Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati, Bl. Chiara Badano, St. John Paul the Great and many others. May we be inspired by them, and realize that we too are saints in the making, if we allow You to work through us. We pray for the courage to stand up for what we know is right. It might mean losing friends, standing up to clergy or even losing our lives. May we always stand up for what we know is True, and not be afraid of our love for Christ, His Mother or His Church. May we strive for the things of Heaven, but also work to do small acts with great love. Amen. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Immaculate Heart of Mary, make safe our way. Most chaste spouse St. Joseph, keep safe our way. St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us. St. Thérèse of Lisieux, pray for us. St. Thomas Aquinas, pray for us. Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati, pray for us. St. John Paul the Great, pray for us.

Thank you! 3 people prayed

Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone. Col 4:6
