The fruit of this third sorrowful mystery is repentance over the sins of pride. 

"Behold the Man." Who is that Person clother with purple in derision, crowned with thorns in cruel mockery, and blasphemously saluted "Hail, King of the Jews" ? Who is He?

It is no human person. It is God. God, in His highest act of love. God, in our nature. God, who, to content His love, and to achieve the reunion of creation with Himself, has put on our humanity. "Ecce Homo." Heart of Jesus! Heart of God! Was it with gibes, and sport, and spitting that they brought Thee forth? And we have all beheld Thee, and have all passed by, wagging our heads! We, who "to nothingness have added only sin." Forgive us, Lord, hide our shame in Thy greatness; Thy Heart still loves us, for it is the Heart of God. We love Thee, we bow down to Thee, we lay our faces in the dust, we prostrate our whole being at Thy feet. 

Jesus, despised, insulted, mocked and spit upon; by Thy silence and the sweetness of Thy patient Heart, hear us and grant our prayer. Mary, in prayer and bitter tears, pray for us - Saint Bernard of Clairvaux

Prayer intention: for the victims of abuse

Father, we entrust to Your healing care all person victim of sexual abuse and/or power abuse from Church persons or Church institutions. We lay before You their suffering, including having been ignored by the Church authorities, thus allowing the injury to be perpetuated on them or others. 

Please lay Your hand on them, relieve their immense pain, and heal their wounds. Grant these persons to fully recover and blossom. May this extremely traumatizing contact with the Church not prevent them from knowing Your special love for them. Please put in their life people who will support them, who will show them the real face of Your Son within the Church. Finally, grant them to find one day the strength, with Your grace, to forgive their torturer. 

With Mary and Saint Michael Archangel, we ask You in the name of Jesus. Amen.
