Day twenty-seven - Learn to trust, like a child

Main post image

Dear Participants,

Welcome to day twenty-seven! Today, we will be kids.

Keeping the heart of a child in our relationship to God is the well-known grace bestowed on Little Thérèse of Lisieux, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Catherine of Siena...

Especially Little Thérèse, her heart bursts with child-like excitement and has immense, infinite desires: she wants to experience all possible vocations - priest, martyr, papal Zouave... But on the other side, there is her daily life and the wounds in her heart that will lead her into depression, around her tenth birthday: she is crushed by a feeling of abandon, following the death of her mother and her two younger brothers. Despite her best attempts, this feeling will often resurface from deep within her, stinging her soul as a bitter reminder of her inability to embrace life.

However, Little Thérèse builds a strong relationship with the Lord. She will discover that loving God, His treasures, His sainthood, is more important than any desire of success: it is not great accomplishments that will make saints out of us.

This brings us back to the core of Father Lamy's vision: "I rejoice in being small, and learn total confidence."

Let us not dream ourselves any different than we are, let us not sculpt ourselves any different than how the Lord wanted us. We are to welcome the light of the Lord in our life and agree to trust Him completely.
