Day 4: Praise Your Creator

Main post image

The land yields its harvest; God, our God, blesses us. May God bless us still, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him. (Psalm 67: 6-7)

God gave humans His Creation for us to enjoy it, rest, recognize our Creator in it, and ultimately find ourselves!

How many psalms and hymns sing praises of the glory of God through the beauty of Creation, and lead us to adore its Author!

Clare invited her sisters to adopt this spiritual attitude. When she “sent her begging-sisters outside, she urged them to praise God every time they would see beautiful blossoming and leafy trees. She wanted them to do the same at the sight of humans and other creatures so that God would be praised for everything and in everything”.

Like Francis, she knew “how to contemplate the Most Beautiful One through beautiful things, and follow her Beloved everywhere in His Creation”.

Let us ask Saint Clare to help us find this state of contemplation. Let's be attentive to nature! Let us allow ourselves to be surprised, to grow a sense of wonder within us: through contemplation and Adoration of the Creator we can encounter Him, others, and ourselves. Accompanied by Clare, let us marvel at humans, the pinnacle of Creation, and the image of God Himself!

Prayer

Lord, today and every day I want to praise You in all Your works and contemplate You in the beauty of You creatures; teach me how to acknowledge You in them and draw from Your Creation the words to praise You. Teach me how to receive Your blessing, sing Your wonders and go up to You, who are the Fountain of all goods.

 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord." (Psalm 150, 6)

Meditation of the Day

Today I will welcome all opportunities to praise God in His works (His Creation, His creatures…) and thank him for it.

What if I took advantage of this day:

  • To take a walk in nature to establish there a quiet contact with my Creator. I can let myself be surprised of all the things I got myself used to, and stir my ability to wonder;
  • Take care of my encounters with others, and turn them into an opportunity to wonder and be thankful;
  • Experience the contact with God's Creation and His creatures as a way to meet God and rediscover myself;
  • And wonder how my daily behaviour can change and help defend the dignity of human life from its beginning to its natural end.

St. Clare's Blessing

I bless you in my life and after my death as much as I can and more than I can. With all the blessings with which the Father of mercies has and will have blessed His sons and daughters in heaven and on earth, and a spiritual father and mother have blessed and bless their spiritual sons and daughters. Always be lovers of God and your souls and the souls of your Sisters, and always be eager to observe what you have promised the Lord. May the Lord be with you always and, wherever you are, may you be with Him always. Amen.

Thank you! 83 people prayed

Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone. Col 4:6
