2. Gain God's Understanding
I'm asking the Holy Ghost to enlighten my intelligence in order to let Him in with respect to every field of my life and renew my heart
Discovering the gift of intelligence
“We are not talking about human intelligence, the intellectual capacity we are more or less provided with. On the contrary, what we are talking about is a grace that only the Holy Ghost can bestow and that stirs within a Christian the capacity to go beyond the external aspect of reality and peer into God's thoughts and His salvation plan.
As the Word, Himself suggests, intelligence allows us to “intus-legere”, that is to “read inside”. This gift has us understand things the way God understands them with God's intelligence. Jesus has wished to send us the Holy Ghost in order for us to understand things the way God understands them with God's intelligence.
It is clear that the gift of intelligence is intrinsically linked to faith. When the Holy Ghost inheres in our hearts and enlightens our minds, He has us grow day by day in the understanding of what the Lord has said and done. Jesus Himself told His disciples:” I shall send you the Holy Ghost and He will have you understand everything I taught you.”
Asking for the gift of intelligence
Father, I'm asking Thee for the gift of intelligence...Through Thy Holy Ghost come and open my mind, enlighten my intelligence and inhere in my heart in order for me to understand and live what Thou daily teach me.
Grant me to understand situations the way Thou understand them. Open the intelligence of Scriptures to me, the way Thou did with the Emmaus pilgrims so that I may live the Gospels.
Teach me the realities of faith in order for me to be Thy disciple, put witnesses on my path and give me the zeal to proclaim the Gospel.
Living and partaking in the gift of intelligence
Thou, therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” - 2 Timothy 2, 1-2
In order to go further like Timothy, I can respond to the invitation of Saint Paul to partake what I have discovered of the gift of intelligence to somebody who wishes to taste the fruit of it so that in his turn he sends it to other people.
