Have you ever got into a deep discussion with someone about Jesus and you're trying to think of a verse in the Bible but you can't for the life of you remember it or who said it? Or you've met someone who knows all of these Bible verses by heart and you find yourself lost for words when trying to defend your position? Jesus asks us to be living testimonies of our faith with our body, heart and soul ! By meditating upon His words and memorizing them, they become part of us, changing completely our relationship with Him. We finally can understand His every word which penetrates our entire being and becomes part of us. We then become living testimonies of Jesus. His word can be used in our daily life to praise Him, to give thanks, to ask for help, to meditate upon, to find direction, and whatever else we may think of.

There are many verses in the Bible about the importance of the Word of God; here are just a few that you can start memorizing!

  • In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus says, “It is written, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God."
  • In the Book of Hebrews, it is said, "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
  • In the Book of Proverbs, "Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him."

Have I been able to convince you about the importance of learning by heart the Word of God?

- Once a week, you will receive a theme, and 3 verses related to it.

- You then choose the one that touches you the most and repeat it to yourself all day.

 - Challenge - You can even learn all of them!

Give it a try and see how transforming the word of God can be in your life!

The Living Word

Gracious Lord, you have caused all holy scriptures to be written for our learning. Help us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that, encouraged and supported by your holy Word, we may embrace and always hold fast the joyful hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ. Almighty God, we thank you for the gift of your holy word. May it be a lantern to our feet, a light to our paths, and strength to our lives. Heavenly Father, give us faith to receive your word, understanding to know what it means, and the will to put it into practice; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Take us and use us to love and serve all people in the power of the Holy Spirit; in the name of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
