SERVANTS OF THE HOLY FACE
The Holy Face of Jesus encapsulates both the Incarnation and Paschal Mystery, inviting us to Adoration; Reparation; Evangelisation and Service of others, especially those who suffer.
As a small community of Laity, we aim to promote Devotion to the Holy Face as a "remedy for our times" [Blessed Maria Pierina] by means of exploring - indeed 're-discovering' - its importance in the life of the Church. Thanks to its firm basis in Sacred Scripture; to the many Saints, across the ages, who have left us a rich legacy of encouragement to this Devotion [often springing from Our Lord's own direct instructions and promises] and also due to the Devotion's approval by many Popes, we are continually challenged both to see, and to love, the Face of Christ in all whom we meet, by ever-new and creative means.
At present, we meet to pray in our local church every Tuesday evening ,Tuesday being a special day to honour the Holy Face. The actual Feast Day of the Holy Face is Shrove Tuesday.
We believe that authentic prayer must bear fruit in action, so outreach/service - in diverse forms - is vital to the life of our community. To date, we have assisted in mounting a week-long 'Travelling Exhibition of The Holy Shroud'; have helped organise several Holy Face Masses and public Holy Face Novenas; conducted Prayer Walks of Witness; freely distributed Holy Face Sacramentals and Holy Face literature; carried out visits to the sick/housebound for prayers of healing and used the media to highlight the fact that the Holy Face of Jesus is not only a sad record of "The Suffering Servant", but also a joyful "Icon of The Resurrection".
Please join us online as we hope to share what we have learnt regarding the Holy Face of Jesus and join us in prayer.
May God bless you,
