<p class="hoz_important">Advent with Pope Francis and Laudato Si&#039;: Preparing for the Good News</p><p class="hoz_quote">The Lord, in the culmination of the mystery of the Incarnation, chose to reach our intimate depths through a fragment of matter. He comes not from above, but from within, he comes that we might find him in this world of ours.” Pope Francis (LS 236)</p><p>During Advent, we embark on a journey of preparation for our encounter with God, Jesus Christ who comes to meet us within Creation - this is the Good News! We anticipate with hope and joy the renewal of all Creation through the Incarnation as Jesus takes on the material life we share with all creatures. <br /><br /></p><p>In this Advent retreat, we will be bringing special attention to how we share this path of preparation in communion with Creation, who also eagerly awaits for redemption (cf. Rm 8:19-23). We will be guided by the words of Pope Francis and the encyclical <em>Laudato Si&#039;</em>, his special letter to us all about the call to care for our common home. </p><h2>Each week you will be invited to reflect on a specific theme through </h2><ul><li>a short video from <em>The Letter </em>- a documentary with Pope Francis about the <em>Laudato Si&#039;</em>, </li><li>a short reflection on that theme, and </li><li>a prayer. </li></ul><p>Each week you will also be invited to a call to action, a concrete way to prepare for Christmas more sustainably.</p><p class="hoz_quote">As Pope Francis reminds us, <em>“Living our vocation to be protectors of God&#039;s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue; it is not an optional or a secondary aspect of our Christian experience.” (LS 217)</em> </p><p class="hoz_important">Join us as we eagerly await Christ&#039;s coming, crying out with Creation for the light of the world to come!</p>

All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe
and in the smallest of your creatures.
You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.
Pour out upon us the power of your love,
that we may protect life and beauty.
Fill us with peace, that we may live
as brothers and sisters, harming no one.
O God of the poor,
help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth,
so precious in your eyes.
Bring healing to our lives,
that we may protect the world and not prey on it,

<p>From 23 September, day after day, enter into the spirituality of Padre Pio by meditating on his writings!</p><p>Saint Padre Pio inspired many people during his lifetime and has inspired even more since his death.</p><p>He has inspired them to entrust their lives to the Lord...</p><p style="text-align:center;"><strong>Join, be inspired and offer your life to Christ who is King!</strong></p><p class="hoz_quote">&#34;Padre Pio&#039;s first concern was that people should return to God, that they might experience his mercy and, interiorly renewed that they rediscover the beauty and joy of being Christians, of living in communion with Jesus, of belonging to the Church and practising the Gospel&#34;</p><p><em>Benedict XVI</em></p><p class="hoz_important" style="text-align:center;"><strong>This, with St Padre Pio&#039;s, Mary and Jesus&#039; help, is our purpose!</strong></p><p><br /></p><p>Padre Pio (1887-1968), a Capuchin priest and saint of mercy and humility, is probably one of the most extraordinary saints in the history of the Church.</p><p>He is the only priest to have received and worn the stigmata of Our Lord for more than 50 years, he spent his priestly life between the confessional and the altar, and through the intercession of Jesus and Mary, many graces of conversion, physical, moral and spiritual healings of all kinds, and spiritual cures for a multitude of people.</p><p>Now that he is in Heaven he continues to intercede and to be a spiritual guide for the men and women of our time.</p><h2>Depose your prayers</h2><p>Depose you prayers here and at the end of the three months and three days, all the prayer intentions received will be placed near Padre Pio&#039;s tomb in San Giovanni Rotondo.</p><h2>The Programme</h2><p>Every day from the 23 September, feast day of Saint Pade Pio, to Christmas, receive:</p><ul><li>A quote from the Saint. 📖</li><li>An accompanying meditation and encouragement to prayer. 🪔</li><li>Conclude every day with a beautiful prayer written by St John Paul 2. 🙏</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><strong>Become more imbued with his spirituality as an aid to our sanctification.</strong></p><h2>Padre Pio</h2><p>Born in 1887, Padre Pio joined the Capuchins in 1903 and was ordained a priest in 1910. A few months later, he received the so-called invisible and non-permanent stigmata, in 1918, he received the visible and permanent stigmata, which he kept until his death in 1968.</p><p>He confessed 12 to 15 hours a day, and celebrated Mass while living the Passion.</p><p>He suffered violent attacks from the devil, and was at times slandered and persecuted by his hierarchy, but he always remained faithful to the Church and a witness to the truth.</p><p>An immense devotee of the Virgin Mary, Padre Pio prayed the rosary, which he called &#34;his weapon&#34;, from morning to night, and recommended to his spiritual sons that they too pray it without ever growing weary.</p><p>His spiritual testament is for many: <strong>&#34;Love Our Lady and make her loved. Always recite the Rosary&#34;.</strong></p><p>He created the Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza hospital to relieve the suffering, as well as the Padre Pio Prayer Groups, now spread throughout the world. He guided many spiritual sons and daughters.</p><p>Padre Pio was beatified by John Paul II in 1999 and canonised in 2002.  3 Months & 3 days with St Padre Pio to guide you to Christmas

Padre Pio, teach us, we pray, humility of heart, so that we may be
counted among the little ones of the Gospel to whom the Father promised to
reveal the mysteries of His Kingdom.
Help us to pray without ceasing, certain that God knows what we need
even before we ask Him.
Obtain for us the eyes of faith that will help us recognize in the poor and
suffering, the very face of Jesus.
Sustain us in the hour of trouble and trial and, if we fall, let us
experience the joy of the sacrament of forgiveness.
Grant us your tender devotion to Mary, mother of Jesus and our
Mother.
Accompany us on our earthly pilgrimage toward the blessed Homeland,
where we too, hope to arrive to contemplate forever the Glory of the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit.    Amen

<h2>What is the purpose of this community of prayer?</h2><p>The purpose is to find peace of mind and heart by putting our trust in God through prayer, meditation, and abandoning ourselves to the Lord. We will encourage you throughout this Novena and lift each one of you in prayer. </p><h2>&#34;What if....?&#34;</h2><p>Many of us suffer from worry, anxiety, and fear. These negative feelings can easily overwhelm us, up to the point where we begin struggling with our faith. </p><p>Indeed, there are so many reasons to develop fear and worry today. Wars, violence, crime, natural disasters, unemployment, illness, future uncertainty... The list goes on. </p><p>We keep asking ourselves &#34;What if?&#34; while imagining the worst outcomes; living under the weight of this uncertainty eventually takes its toll on both our physical and mental health. </p><p>While there is no way to know what future will hold, <strong>we do have a powerful weapon against fear: trusting in God who loves us</strong>. Jesus came to save us, to set us free from all of our enemies. Putting our trust in God, we can gradually overcome all negative thoughts we&#039;re constantly fighting. No, it&#039;s not a miraculous cure, but <strong>God can work wonders in hearts that believe in His power.</strong> </p><h2>Every day, for the duration of the Novena, you&#039;ll receive:</h2><ul><li>A Bible verse to fight fear and anxiety.</li><li>A prayer.</li><li>A short meditation. </li></ul><p class="hoz_important">if you are suffering from depression and/or anxiety, and/or having suicidal thoughts, please seek professional help. Prayer does help and accomplishes miracles, but no one in their right mind would tell a cancer patient to &#34;just pray their cancer away.&#34; The same applies to mental illnesses.
