A Lent with the Prophet Elijah

Elijah is the foremost of all biblical prophets and continues to be a source of inspiration for Christians today. He is an archetypal figure in the Carmelite tradition and as Carmelites we claim him as our father.

Together, we will explore aspects of his journey to meeting God and we will see how his life can help us in our own journey of meeting the Lord.

Prayer from the retreat

In the Spirit of Saint Elijah the Prophet

God spoke in the past to our ancestors through the prophets; now He has spoken to us through His Son, whom he has made heir to all things. (Heb 1:1-2) Almighty, ever-living God, Your prophet Elijah our Father Lived always in your presence And was zealous for the honour due to your name. May we, your servants, Always seek your face And bear witness to your love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
